I’m already off to a not-so-hot start to July.
Though, how bad can it be if I spent the Fourth of July in Cape Cod with my boyfriend, ignoring responsibilities, soaking up the sunshine and ocean breeze and making memories?
… Bad enough when you get bacterial pink eye the day you have to leave and deal with an earache and head cold the entire duration (and then some!) of your trip. Only to come home to one of the busiest stretches for work with major assignments all month long.
Deep breaths, it’ll all be fine. Just put your head down and get to work.
Instead of burying my head in the sand and making excuses after excuses, I want to take this month by the horns and be in control of my own destiny. All year has been a battle of just biting the bullet and just getting shit done and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Even though this post will be coming out nearly a week into the month, there’s still goals to dig up and crush!
June was actually a great month for me, aside from getting sick at the very end which derailed my routines and plans. I was successful in my workout routine, created a habit of meditating and practicing mindfulness for at least 10 minutes a day and actually started brushing up on calligraphy!
Here are the goals I want to crush this July:
- Complete every day of the Intermediate Workout Plan from Spotebi and lose 10-12 pounds: This month, I want to throw my workout plan into overdrive and really pick up the pace. Last month, I completed the Beginner Workout Plan from Spotebi and I noticed immediate results in nearly a third of the time compared to the 12-week program I completed from January to April. In part with this, I also want to start meal-prepping and being more conscious of what goes in my body, which will definitely help with the weight loss. *If I’m able to lift 12-pounds on the free weights, run for a consecutive 5-minutes and 30-seconds and lose the 10-12 pounds, I’ll allow myself to purchase a new pair of sneakers!
- Read two books: Last month, I actually crossed this off my list fairly early after picking up two quick reads in “Pygmy” by Chuck Palahnuik and Jonathan Unleashed by Meg Rosoff. Currently, I’m placed at 12 of 20 books on my reading challenge and would like to add two more. On my shelf now is “I Take You” by Eliza Kennedy and “Beautiful Ruins” by Jess Walter. I still want to spice up my reading list, so if you have any recommendations, leave ’em in a comment!
- Continue to learn calligraphy: During the month of June, I had found a free downloadable calligraphy worksheet and purchased myself a brush pen and went to town. For most of my life, penmanship is something that I take pride in and the art of calligraphy is a hidden talent that has suddenly made a resurgence. Whether it be downloads from the Internet or purchasing a workbook, I want to continue to learn this long-lost art form since you’ll never know when you might need it!
- Continue to grow and promote this blog: For most of my life, I’ve been a very creative person, who has always been embarrassed to share my pieces, whether it be writing or drawing or whatever because I was afraid of what people would think or that it simply wouldn’t be good enough. Lately, I’ve become more open and willing to share my blog and have been receiving a lot of support from it. At first, this blog was meant to just be a hobby, but I’ve been thinking with the “Do it for the blog” mentality and really see things in a new light. Since I have a posting “schedule” in order, it’s now time to continue to promote the site and to possibly commit to purchasing a domain and really create something.
