Public display of Complexion
For as much as I love makeup, I really hate trying to find the perfect foundation routine for myself. I hate being bothered trying to figure out what skin type I have at the time (and then it changing six times in-between), trying to color-match and finding the perfect products that will make my makeup stay in place all day.
Luckily, I have Sephora for that. 💁🏼
This month is all about those complexion companions that are going to help us nail our foundation routines. From a dermabrasion scrub, to a skin booster to a 4-in-1 setting spray, this has all of our bases covered.
Here’s what was inside my Sephora Play this month:
You’re not seeing things, this product really is like magic.🎩
This primer isn’t playing tricks on your eyes, it literally blurs away all your imperfections and makes your pores disappear like Houdini. It’s a cream primer that fills in lines to make your skin extra smooth and ready for foundation. Consider this your new secret weapon.
Thanks to its rosehip and argan oil, it melts like butter into the skin. At first, it starts out very thick and tacky but it blends seamlessly the more you work it. FYI: a little goes a long way, so this product will last you a while!
It uses its light pink color to blur pigments, helping to combat my hyper-pigmentation, which is a nice added bonus. I love how smooth my face feels after application and how my skin looks airbrushed and matte even before using foundation and setting powder.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve purchased a new foundation.
I’ve been searching high and low for something that won’t leave me in a desperate search for my blotting sheets, something that won’t break the bank and something that won’t leave my skin feeling cakey and weighed down.
We might have found the winning formula.
First off, major props to Sephora for finding me an EXACT color match with this shade! This is as close to a color I’ve ever found to my natural skin and I was delighted when I swatched it.
This formula is super lightweight, but full coverage. My foundation doesn’t gather in those troublesome areas (my nose, my T-zone and along the crease of my chin) and my skin doesn’t feel oily after a few hours, in fact, it feels as if I’m not wearing anything at all.
It blend so seamlessly and paired with the Ultra HD Skin Booster I review later in this post, it’s a knockout combo and might replace my obsession with the L’Oreal Infallibles, which I never thought was impossible.

If you ask me, the most important part of anyone’s make-up routine should be the final step: setting spray.
Momma will drown herself in setting spray before she leaves the house. And then she’ll proceed to douse herself again, just as she’s walking out the door.
This spray wears many hats: it’s a primer, a setting spray, a hydrating mist and a skin refresher, packed with antioxidant marine ingredients that will help rehydrate your skin whenever in a pinch.
I’ve used this as a setting spray and a skin refresher. As a refresher, I love how it has a clean scent and a cooling sensation. As a setting spray, it did its job, but didn’t exceed expectations.
I like this one because it’s on the cheaper side of sprays and can be used in a wide variety of scenarios, giving it more bang for its buck. However, it didn’t wow me to the point of considering repurchase.

Perfection in a bottle.
This serum is chocked full of goodies to help put your best face forward. It’s packed with hyaluronic acid for instant moisture and argan oil to nourish, illuminate and improve the overall quality of your skin.
I love the drip dropper bottle because I’m not wasting product. I fill it once and drip a drop on my forehead, each cheek and my chin. That little bit is enough for the whole face, trust me.
Paring this with the foundation aforementioned has completely changed how I look at my skin/foundation routine. I’ve always dreaded how patchy or uneven my skin looked because I couldn’t find the right foundation. For once, I’m actually content with how my foundation looks after a long day, which I have a lot of.

Just before this blog was created, I had tested a microdermabrasion cream from Dr. Brandt in a Birchbox that I fell in absolute love with. It had such a great lemon-y smell and you could feel it slosh away dead skin with its mini exfoliants.
As you could see, I had very high expectations for this one. This guy fell slightly short, but not because he didn’t do his job, but because Momma expects a lot out of things…
Let’s immediately clarify the rating I gave this, which is arguably on the lower side. I didn’t “hate” this product. In fact, it did its intended job by unclogging my pores and forcing everything to the surface for extractions. After one use, my forehead had an array of new tiny pimples, but hey, that’s the price to pay with a microderm.
However, I was disappointed with its scent, or as lack of for that matter. It did its job, but it didn’t blow me out of the water compared to the one I had used prior.

As someone who is constantly making first impressions, it’s important to find a perfume that gives you ‘mature af’ vibes. No one never wants to be remembered as the ‘smelly perfume’ gal.
This Tory Burch perfume smells just like what I envision every boss babe to smell like: It’s warm, enticing but breezy with notes of citrus and peony. Its warming combination of vetiver and bergamot make it sophisticated without it smelling too old lady or musty like.
Its inspired by the French Riviera and incorporates the sea, travel and the color blue, all three of mine and Tory Burch’s favorite things. It’s long lasting, complimentary to my natural body odor and just very refreshing.
