Get ready to prep, set, party!
With the busiest time of the year approaching, it’s time to pull out all the tricks for those upcoming holiday parties. This month’s Birchbox is full with items that will take your look from day to night and last through all those meals and cocktails with family and friends.
Here’s what’s inside my Birchbox this month:
My true obsession for 2017 has been Bum Bum cream. (So much in fact, that I literally haven’t been able to shut up about it since August, so sorry to everyone who has heard me talk about it at least 17,398,374 times). I bought the full size, have nearly depleted my stash and have already stocked up with a holiday collection I snagged during the Sephora VIB sale (where I finally hit Rouge…. R.I.P. to my bank account.)
As much as I love the Bum Bum cream, sometimes I like to switch it up with something that offers a little more hydration. With winter knocking on the door, my skin is heading into hibernation mode and requires a lot of extra love and attention.
This body creme has an “interesting” smell. I don’t want to say it smells awful, but it certainly doesn’t do anything for my sniffer. I’d say it almost smells more masculine than it does feminine and if that’s your fancy, then so be it, but for me, it left me with a headache.
I’m indifferent about it because despite its fragrance, it does leave my skin feeling smooth and velvety, but the downside of receiving a small sample is I felt that I was being overly cautious with my application size, which might have changed my idea about if it actually worked or not.
The creme is thick and takes a little elbow grease to massage in, but it melts like butter once it warms up to the skin. (Also reading on the pamphlet, it suggested using on damp skin, which upon testing, I noticed that it does disperse easier).
The scent alone for me turned me off, which is why it won’t replace my Bum Bum infatuation.

I feel like being an adult means that you find staple items in your makeup routine, or in life in general, that become your signatures.
This lipstick would be my signature if I had to pick one. I discovered this liquid lippie nearly a year ago when I got my first-ever Sephora Play (long before the blog was created!) and it was one of those items that I almost forgot about until digging through my vault.
First off, the applicator makes applying SO easy and gets right into the nooks and crannies. It’s narrow at the end, which makes lining the lips a dream and it dips into a teardrop shape that makes filling in the color a breeze. I’m someone who strongly believes a good wand can make or break a liquid lipstick, and this one definitely passes the test.
It dries down quickly and the finish is a gorgeous warm pink, though to me looks more “pumpkin spice”-esque that makes my inner white girl sing. I’ve paired this lip from everything to my ABH Modern Renaissance palette to even a natural look. Its color is so neutral that it works with anything and everything, which makes it a favorite on its own.
It holds up marvelously through my eat/drink/kiss test and it doesn’t leave my lips feeling parched because of its jojoba, apricot and sunflower seed oil. Smashbox is one of those brands that I often forget about, but I’m always delighted when I (re)discover favorites.

With the adjustment of the time change and getting into a routine, ya girl has been tired all fall long and unfortunately, my skin has been taking the brunt of it. No amount of face masks and pampering will help me now…
Marcelle has been a brand that’s been a delightful surprise for me in past Birchboxes, so I had some high expectations for this eye cream. Even for someone who doesn’t believe the hype of eye cream.
However, it fell completely short because there was barely any product in the component! I was lucky to get maybe two trials out of it and I didn’t notice a major difference (even using it on a morning that I didn’t sleep the greatest). There was a lot of air in the packaging and once I finally got enough of it out, it was wasted because it gushed out, so already I’m displeased with the product.
To add, I didn’t feel any sensation, the undereye area didn’t look that different after application. There was a slight cooling sensation, which I think was due to the cucumber and plant extract, but I didn’t think it did a whole lot for me.

Don’t you just love it when you discover more obsessions from one of your favorite brands?
I’ve fully jumped on board the Living Proof bandwagon and I’m adding another love to my arsenal. This styler wears a lot of different hats: according to the Birchbox website, “it’s a mane tamer (the T in T.B.D.), a blow-dry styler (the B), and strand deconstructor (the D)”.
Essentially, it’s an all-in-one that’s going to save my hair routine. I used it as a blow-dry styler (which essentially became an air-dry styler because I was too lazy to blow-dry my hair!) and as a styling cream and my hair felt incredibly smooth compared to my thoughts.
The following day, my hair had some grit and texture to it, but didn’t feel too dirty or unmanageable, which left me a happy camper. Like all Living Proof products, it has its signature clean smell that lasts all day and they’re easy to work through my locks.

Blush + Highlight = an intrigued Sarah and this B’Lighter.
Blushes aren’t normally my favorites, yet highlighters are my ride or dies in my makeup bag. If we’re being honest, I would never imagine using this solely as a blush, just because I like mine very matte, but as a highlight, I’m definitely vibing on its peachy hues.
In the compact, it’s no denying that it’s peachy-pink, however upon application, it blends into a gorgeous shimmer that adds the perfect glow to your face without being too stark. It’s lightweight, doesn’t leave my face feeling oily or tacky and melts right into the skin.
I pop this on my cheekbones and work it into whatever blush I’m wearing that day, as well as applying it to the tip of my nose. Since I don’t love using brushes with cream products, I use my finger to blend.
