The world is our snow globe, so let’s shake it up!

While living in central New York, it’s very common to have your surroundings look and feel like a snow globe. The snow has been abundant lately and it’s got me in the wintery feels, definitely feeling inspired by the frosty atmosphere.

The products inside are going to take you from those wintry days to the twinkling nights, whether it means glamming it up or treating yourself with a little R & R. Make a statement with a bold red lip and golden olive wing or give yourself a little love with a face mask. This month’s GlamBag has you covered.

Here’s what was inside my GlamBag this month:

PURLISSE | Coconut + Rice Nourishing Sheet Mask AND
Green Tea + Ginger Treatment Sheet Mask

Twice the fun.

It was really surprising to see that Ipsy sent not one, but TWO sheet masks this GlamBag. I had previously tested this brand out in my October Birchbox and was absolutely not a fan, but I didn’t want to quickly write it off as a total bust.

I decided to test out the Green Tea + Ginger mask first, since my skin has been disobeying me in the worst way. I was hoping that the “moisturizing and detoxifying” claims would hold true but if anything, it just left my face cold and sopping wet.

The eye slit left my eyes slightly irritated, which was a major reason why I didn’t like it the first go-around, but it wasn’t nearly as bad this time. I was able to keep the mask on for the full 20 minutes and did notice that the serum did absorb into my skin, though my neck did feel itchy/irritated after the fact.

The next morning, my face felt moisturized and I didn’t notice any additional breakouts, so the second time was certainly much better.

The idea of giving myself 15 minutes of uninterrupted relaxation is so refreshing, but I have found only one sheet mask that has had me singing, and that was the GLAMGLOW BUBBLESHEET. All other sheet masks feel heavy and don’t absorb into my skin, which leaves me more prone to breakouts.

SMASHBOX COSMETICS | Be Legendary Lipstick in Legendary

Here’s a truth from my red lips, I used to put Taylor Swift to shame for how much I rocked a red lip. It used to be my signature, but it’s really hard to find a perfect red shade that becomes your go-to.

We know I prefer liquid lips because they don’t run amuck on your face, but I wanted to give this one the benefit because there are several other Smashbox products I’ve already tested and love.

What a mistake that was! This felt more of a balm than a lipstick and by that I mean that this was so greasy and “moisturizing” that it was a mess to apply precisely. Once it was on the lips, it rubbed onto my teeth, even with using the good ol lipstick trick. (You know the one…)

The finish look was too shiny for me and I hated how it went everywhere BUT where I applied it. There’s no way that this would have passed a eat/drink/kiss test. I hated it so much in fact that I immediately threw it out after testing.

CITY COLOR COSMETICS | Shimmer Shadow in It’s A Girl

If I can be real honest, I have never been more disappointed to receive a product. Let me explain: Ipsy noted that it was going to send either this shade or All Eyes On Me, which was looked to be a beautiful shimmery taupe.

Now, I’m not complaining that I got It’s A Girl, because this plum shade is really pretty, but in no way would I ever find myself looking for or using a shade this particular color. I am not someone who is a pink/purple person, especially when it comes to my eyes and I won’t find myself ever creating a look that would need this shade. I’m just being realistic.

However, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t give this a fair shake. But always go with your gut.

This shadow didn’t really pick up a ton of pigment and I felt myself going back to the pan while applying. It didn’t really pick up the magenta shades I was hoping for and in all, it just left me disappointed. I’m sure if you saturated the brush and applied it that way, you’d get some pigmentation, but for me, it’s not worth while.

This is the second shadow I’ve received from City Color that’s outside my comfort zone, having received the Beach Cottage one a while back. Maybe someday I’ll use them, but for now, I’ll stick with my neutrals.

NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP | Slide On Pencil in Golden Olive

I normally stay as far away from colored eyeliners as possible, simply because they intimidate the hell out of me. When it comes to black liners, I can flick the wrist like no one’s business, but if you put any other color in my hand, I freeze up.

Pencil liners are not my preferred because their creamy formulas tend to slide off my oily eyelids, no matter how much primer I apply. However this one, I could see myself grabbing for some of the abundant holiday glam looks coming up. Or just for a Tuesday, you don’t ever need special occasions to rock a fun look!

Its creamy formula surprisingly didn’t smear all around my eye and it did relatively stay in place. The olive color was super complimentary to my blue eyes and I like the idea of switching up my standard black liners that I abuse so often.

For the New Year, Ryan and I will be going to New York City and we have plans to go to an old-fashion Speak Easy. The black and gold romper I bought gives me a perfect excuse to try this paired with a super neutral eye and a pop of color with a metallic red lip.

LOTTIE LONDON | Lottie Lacquer in Riot!

“Cut me, I bleed blue.”

Believe it or not, that was actually my senior quote in my high school yearbook! I’m a diehard New York Rangers fan and it felt appropriate to make that my senior quote. Looking back six years later, it’s still appropriate and my love/obsession is something that won’t ever die, even if they give me extreme agita most nights!

When I opened this gorgeous metallic blue nail polish, I had to pick my jaw off from the floor. It was the perfect NYR Blue color, aside from Essie’s Mesmerize (Which I went on a freaking quest to find during the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs! Legit, I wore that color for the ENTIRE run!) I love the metallic in it and it has an incredible shine, even without the gel top coat I applied.

This color could be rocked any time of year, whether you’re a Blueshirts fan or not! It definitely gives me some snowy/festive vibes, so I could see this being rocked more during the colder months.

The brush is wider than most nail polishes, which made application a lot easier and it’s pretty opaque, so two coats is the perfect amount of coverage.
