Welcome to your holiday survival guide, courtesy of Sephora Play!
This month, the Play bag will have you feeling very merry and bright with products that will prepare you for every party this season. From a family feast to a New Year’s Eve Fete, all of the products inside are handpicked to have you full of cheer.
Here’s what I received in my November Sephora Play:
I recently discovered why this loose setting powder is a cult-favorite after one of my friends gave me some to test out. If anyone knows a thing about makeup, it’s that every beauty guru on YouTube swears up and down about this powder, but as someone who seldom uses this sort of product, I wasn’t in rush to try it out.
After testing it, I understand why it’s a staple in a lot of people’s routines and I see this being my trusted beauty BFF this upcoming holiday season. This powder is weightless and made my skin appear smoother, without providing flashback in photography. (aka you’ll look flawless for those holiday photos!) My skin still felt like it was able to breathe, but I’m assured it has a blurred, matte finish.
This powder can also be used to set your pout all night long, so it won’t be smudged after your big NYE kiss!

This was one of the first-ever ‘luxury skincare’ brands I had ever purchased back in college, and I had a whole pang of nostalgia when I saw this sample. I was obsessed with it because one of my favorite YouTubers (JuicyStar007) mentioned it in a video and I swore up and down it absolutely worked for my skin (even though it dried me out like a piece of leather because I didn’t have any idea about moisturizer….!)
I must’ve been onto something back then, because now with all of the information I’ve gathered about skincare over the years, resampling this product brought me back to that impressionable girl. But this time, she actually knows she’s putting some good stuff on her skin!
This cleanser might be gentle, but packs a punch because it melts away makeup, oil and dirt while softening, soothing and rejuvenating the skin with its 12-essential oil blend. It also tones and hydrates the skin, so it can essentially be an all-in-one system.

This clay-to-foam paste absorbs oil and impurities while pure rassoul clay and rose extracts provide out of this world volume, while still keeping hair light and bouncy.
Admittedly, I was very skeptical of this product. A while back, I had received another item from this brand and fell in love with it on a first impression, but after using it I discovered that my hair felt incredibly stiff and straw-like. I was shocked at how an exfoliant paste could transform into a nice lather and really emulsify well through my hair.
However, once I washed it out, I started to feel that stiffness again before applying conditioner. As an icy blonde, it made me incredibly nervous since I already suffer from serious breakage, this would have been too tough on my fragile hair. Conditioner helped, but I would need a heaping pile to feel comfortable using it.
When I woke up after letting my hair air-dry, I noticed two things: 1) there was a noticeable amount of volume at the root, and 2) this product does absolutely nothing for combatting frizz. If volume is something you strive for, then by all means, go for it, but as someone with thick hair that needs help with frizz, it’s going to be a pass.

In one of my very-first blog posts, I received a firey-red sample and I became a believer of just how great Sephora Collection items were. Nearly two years (!!) later, I still have the same sentiments about these lip stains and want to add every color to my collection!
Pink Tea is a gorgeous pink nude that can be rocked at any of your upcoming holiday events, or just for an everyday color. Plus, it’s eat/drink/kiss test approved!

This oil-free moisturizer transforms from cream to gel that quickly dries down and leaves skin feeling plump and evened out. Plus, it also defends from environmental stressors.
I have very limited experience with Lancome products, but anytime I think of this brand, I think either boujee AF or something a grandmother would use. I wasn’t in love with the scent of this moisturizer because it smells very fragrant, but I was really impressed with how quickly it worked to make my skin feel on it’s A-Game.
I don’t think I’ll run out to buy more once I’m done with this deluxe sample, but I believe my preconceived notions about Lancome have slightly changed.

You’re worth more than gold.
There really aren’t any words I can use in a sentence to admit just how much I love this perfume. It has key notes of molten amber, benzoin (whatever that is), and vanilla to create this warm and inviting perfume. Once you apply it, theres several notes that come through as the perfume wears, so what you first apply won’t be the last thing you smell, but don’t worry, the entire journey is worth the ride.
While reading up about this perfume, I learned just how good of a quality this perfume is: it uses Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, which is considered the highest quality of vanilla in the world. I’m kicking myself because I recently committed myself to Tory Burch Bel Azur and both sizes of this perfume are out of stock on the Sephora website! But, once it’s back in, I’m definitely buying some.
